Makhana is seed of lotus flowers. It is grown only in aÂ particularÂ region ofBiharand supplied all over the country. Â It is mainly used for making kheer and is also fried and used as snack. Â Makhana preparations are using eaten during fasting also. Â Today we will prepare makhane ki sabzi which has very different taste and is tasty to eat too.
Let’s start with theÂ procedureÂ of making Makhana Ki Sabzi
Ingredients for Makhane Ki Sabzi
- Makhana (fox nuts) – 1/2 cup
- Green peas – 1 cup
- Onions – 2 (chopped)
- Tomato – 2 (chopped)
- Cashew nuts – 8-9
- Raisins – 8-9
- Coriander powder – 1 tsp
- Garlic paste – 1 tsp
- Garam masala -1/2 tsp
- Red chilly powder – 1/2 tsp
- Turmeric powder -1/2 tsp
- Coriander leaves – 1 tbsp (chopped)
- Green chilies – 2 (chopped)
- Salt – as per your taste
How to cook Makhane Ki Sabzi
Firstly, we willÂ roastÂ the makhana. Â Preheat a pan, put 1 tbsp of oil, add all makhana in pan. SautÃ© them till they become little brown in color. Â After the makhana’s are little roasted take them out in a plate. Â Now roast cashew nuts and raisins for few seconds.
Take 1 tbsp of oil in a pan; add green chilies, garlic paste, chopped onions, green peas, chopped tomatoes, salt, coriander powder, turmeric powder and red chilly powder. Â SautÃ© it till the tomatoes and onions are cooked properly. Â When masala is ready, add makhana, dry fruits, water, 1-2 tsp of tomato puree and mix them very nicely.
Cover it and cook for 5 minutes on low flame. Â Check after 5 minutes makhana curry is ready or not. Â Now add garam masala powder and mix it well. Â The vegetable it ready takes it out in a bowl.
Makhane Ki Sabzi is ready. Â Garnish with some coriander leaves.
Serve hot with roti, rice, parantha or naan.
